After The Thrill Is Gone - Eagles Music Code
"Same dances in the same old shoes Some habits that you just can't lose
There's no telling what a man might lose, After the thrill is gone".
The Eagles are a country rock band that have been around since the 1970's
Among there songs was this one called "After the thrill is gone" which I
have opined about in an earlier entry to this all famous blog of mine.
When the song first came out it wasn't a hit at all,
in fact it was an after thought on the "B" side of the album.
Of course me being an Eagles fan, Who am I kidding?
I even knew every pop, hiss and scratch on each song on their records.
I saw the Eagles live in concert four times,
the first time was the best, which as it is in most things in life.
Except smoking cigarettes, for me I just got really sick.
I guess smoking a whole pack of L&M's in one hour
was'nt a Cool thing for me to do as a teenager.
Back to the Eagles.
The Palace theatre in Waterbury Connecticut in about 1972.
Bernie Leadon was still with them, not Joe the Walsh on lead guitar.
The other day I woke up with this freakin song in my head,
Partly to the high notes of Randy Meisner I'm sure.
It happened again this morning.
So I guess it must mean something to me
this song "After the thrill is gone".
By the way guitarist Joseph Fidler "Joe" Walsh (born November 20, 1947)
is an avid ham radio operator, and holds an Extra Class Amateur Radio License.
His station call sign is WB6ACU. What's with his middle name? "Fidler".
Any way, I must be going through some type of metamorphosis or something
because I just can't get this song out of my subconscious.
"After the thrill is gone". I think I like it because
it's a simple tune and you can't dance to it.
Same dances in the same old shoes Some habits that you just can't lose
There's no telling what a man might lose, After the thrill is gone
The flame rises but it soon descends Empty pages and a frozen pen
You're not quite lovers and you're not quite friends After the thrill is gone
What can you do when your dreams come true And it's not quite like you planned?
What have you done to be losing the one You held it so tight in your hand well
Time passes and you must move on, Half the distance takes you twice as long
So you keep on singing for the sake of the song After the thrill is gone
You're afraid you might fall out of fashion And you're feeling cold and small
Any kind of love without passion That ain't no kind of lovin' at all, well
Same dances in the same old shoes You get too careful with the steps you choose
you don't care about winning but you don't want to lose
After the thrill is gone.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN WAY LYRICS:
I broke my bat on Johnny's head; somebody snitched on me.
I hid a frog in sister's bed; somebody snitched on me.
I spilled some ink on Mommy's rug,I made Tommy eat a bug,
Bought some gum with a penny slug; somebody snitched on me. Oh,
I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas.Mommy and Daddy are mad.
I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas,'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad.
I put a tack on teacher's chair, somebody snitched on me.
I tied a knot in Susie's hair; somebody snitched on me.
I did a dance on Mommy's plants, climbed a tree and tore my pants.
Filled the sugar bowl with ants; somebody snitched on me. So,
I won't be seeing Santa Claus; somebody snitched on me.
He won't come visit me because somebody snitched on me.
Next year I'll be going straight, next year I'll be good, just wait.
I'd start now but it's too late; somebody snitched on me. Oh,
So, you better be good, whatever you do,
'Cause if you're bad I'm warning you,You'll get nuttin' for Christmas.
