CAROLINE KENNEDY WITHDRAWS HER NAME !

After learning that Gov. Patterson was going to announce that she was not the person he would choose to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg abruptly took herself out of contention for the senate seat.

Kennedy informed New York Gov. David Paterson that she was withdrawing her name from consideration for the position, which came open when Hillary Rodham Clinton stepped down to become secretary of State in the Obama administration. Kennedy's move was first reported by the New York Post, and came amid speculation that Paterson was verging on naming the 51-year-old daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy to fill the seat. An announcement of Paterson's choice was expected over the weekend.
