I READ THIS IN THE NEWSPAPER TODAY !

This must be a true story I guess because it was in today's newspaper. George Phillips of Meridan, Connecticut, was just about ready to go to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the shed in there back yard. George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw there were three people in the shed in the process of stealing things. He immediately phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and George said no and explained the situation. Then the dispatcher explained that all patrol units were busy on more urgent calls, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be there when available. George said, "Okay," hung up his phone, waited a few minutes and phoned the Meridan police department again. "Hello, I just called you a few minutes ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now...I've just shot them and from the silence I think there all dead." Then George hung up the phone and within five minutes three squad cars, an Armed Response unit, a fire truck first response unit, and an ambulance showed up. Of course, the police caught the burglars red handed. After the bad guys were handcuffed and hauled away, One of the policemen asked George "I thought you said that you'd shot them and thought they were dead!" George said, "I thought you said there were no available units and everybody was tied up handling more urgent calls!".
