ALOHA AND MAHALO !

Aloha, The Hawaiian language is very colorful and cool!
"Keia la is Po`alua, Aia is `A`ole Makani as I look out
Ko`u Puka aniani knowing that Ho`oilo will soon be here!"

Up until now the only Hawaiian word I knew was Ukulele.
I'm finding myself uncomfortably craving some Poi.
They say it is very good although an acquired taste. I made Hummus the other day and think that Poi is kind of like that, being about the same consistency. But what about the taste? Poi is made from the taro root. So off I went on a mission from God to find some Taro. Went to an Asian market and got a few chunks that sort of resemble Horse Radish root. Ah but now, how to cook it? The simplest way is to peel it and boil it in hot water, well not the type of person to do the simplest method, I cut it up and stuck it in the oven and baked it until it turned golden brown, then chopped and mashed it in my mortar and pestle. It's kinda like eating a raw potato, doesn't have much flavor and the texture is similar to that of a sweet potato.

I've got my spell checker really smoking, trying to include some Hawaiian words in my emails. I'm using some words in my every day vocabulary with not so good results.
I think I called my brother a Palm Tree Sucking, Coconut Breasted Monkey Lizard !

Aloha !
