OH SO GOOD ASPERIGUS!

I went to the local USPS today.
walking straight into the old
t.v. show "Hooterville"
Not Hooters restaurant which is
a different experiance all together.

Inside the front door I was somehow
transported back in time to a place
straight from black and white t.v.

A barrel full of pickled pickles
in the middle of the floor,
and a postal clerk that was more
interested in what Bob's deli had
on his lunch menu than me.

The reason I was there was to
pick up a registered letter and
the clerk had me fill out a form
with all the pertainant information.

Wondering why,I asked "how come they
just didn't scan the bar code"
and was told they had that new fangled
piece of fancy electric stuff
but didn't know how to use the thing.

Well I got my letter and proceded
to go to the grocery store downtown.
Approaching a very busy highway
I had to cross,Route six.

I was confronted with a blinking red light.
What are they kidding me?
You can't navigate across this highway
without the protection of a green light.
I felt like I was playing the old
video game Frogger with my car.
And I wasn't alone,
there were six cars in front of me,
"Go now you idiot"
NOW,NOW,NOW!

So anyway...

Every once in a while I amaze myself
by coming up with a recipe that just
is so good,I mean really really good.

Today I made fresh asperigus fried
with a tempera batter coating.
Along side I put some seafood sauce.

There were other foods on the table,
a fresh green salad,corned beef & cabbage,
I took one bite of the asperigus and
stated "Oh my god that's good".
It's all we ate from the table.

It reminded me of deep fried shrimp
but it was amazingly good asperigus.

And then the dessert, earlier in the day,
I made a blueberry type a coffee cake.
Trying to use up some frozen berries
before this years new crop comes in.

I must have put a half a gallon
of them in the coffee cake batter.
With a butter crumb topping.
It came out exceptionally good.

Grampa took one bite and slumped
back in his chair saying that
"this is (pausing)...Amazing".
He does love blueberries.

This meal is one for the record
cook books for sure.I bet if I
entered this asparigus recipe
in an asparigus cooking contest
it would be a hands down winner!
