There's a puddle of water
in the sand on the shore
with a seagull drinking
and walking around for more.
The breeze is silent but strong
as the waves caress the sand
There's a boy on the beach
with a camera in his hand.
He aims it toward the seagulls
reflection of the image was fine
viewing the bird and the water
capturing it for all of time.
Looking out over the water
and into the blue horizon
a ship is slow to disappear
was not the only one.
The beach is empty
not another sole around
he picks up a sea shell
then tosses it to the ground.
The water brought from the sea
a classroom of learning and then
depositing them on the sand
for the boy to comprehend.
Walking along the waters edge
he spies a sand crab quickly
making its way to its hole
thinking should or shouldn't he.
Be back in school on this fine day
but what could they ever teach
that he couldn't learn right there
slowly walking along the beach.
