A few years ago we could go to the local Drive In theatre to watch the latest movie. You drove up, paid your entrance fee depending upon how many people in your car, a lot of us snuck into the Drive In in the trunk. You parked next to a speaker that hung on a pole, placing it in your window to hear the sounds of the movie.
I don't remember the year but I do remember watching the very first Godfather movie at the drive in. Sadly today because of the new multi plex theatres and the cost of land most drive ins are disapearing becoming housing subdivisions.
The only one I know of is in Pine Meadow if that one is even still there.
When our local Drive In Theatre closed I went there with a metal detector to find some loose change. I didn't find any. Although there were many deteriorating profolactics in the back row.
