I don't own a cell phone. I find no reason to talk to someone while I'm shopping or pumping gas at the local filling station. Somehow life got way to complicated over the past 40 years or so. People really need to slow down a bit and enjoy life a little more. When was the last time you actually went outside to watch the sun as it sets? I remember as a child eating a bologna and cheese sandwich and not feeling guilty about it. A teaspoon full of peanut butter dipped in white cane sugar as a snack. Life was slower and simpler, I liked the old and out of date way of life we lived in back then. When a Coke was a coke not a white powder people snort up their nose. And crack's what you were doing when you were cracking jokes. And when you said I'm down with that it meant you had the flu. I loved listening to my records, black, shiny vinyl with clicks hisses and pops. And the album covers were an extra kind of artsy thing to read while listening to the music. A time when all you needed was a hand shake to seal a deal. We didn't have mandatory automobile insurance until the 1970's. School only got canceled when there was six inches of snow on the ground. Today it's canceled upon the threat of a snow flake or two.
We never had bottled water, drank from the hose out back of the house.
Today are the days of anti bacterial everything. People are so afraid of life these days. We never had to wear helmets while riding our bicycles. Most toys where made out of wood or metal. Back then there were no safety seals on our food products, didn't need to be. Then one day some nut case put a strange object in a bottle of Tylenol and someone found a needle in a Halloween candy bar, that's how the whole safety seal thing got started. Somehow the care free way of life has disappeared along with the LP records. And that's too bad.
