PICKUP TRUCK WITH NO TAIL LIGHTS

I was puttin back some beers the day I went to
pick up my friend who was getting out of prison.
It was raining and my dog was getting smell like dog wet
riding in back of my pickup truck with no tail lights.

I thought that I'd be late to pick up my friend
Jonesing and looking for a smoke now and again.
Realized that I had left my cigarettes on the seat
of my tractor stuck in the mud with a flat tire.

The reason I was drinking is because I was trying
to forget about my ex wife and what she took from me.
My house, half my money but not my favorite dog pet.
Now all I got is an old pickup truck with no tail lights.

Revenuer broke my still
Alligator ate my cat
My wife gave me the bill
What I gonna do with that?

I got about half way to the prison when I ran out of gas
and got soaking wet hitching a ride to the filling station,
where's upon I realized that I'd left my wallet
on the seat of my pickup truck with no tail lights.

Finally getting to the front gate of the prison
I was informed by the gate keeper that I was a day late
and my friend was let out of prison yesterday.
So all pissed off I headed back to town and
got pulled over for speeding with no tail lights.

Revenuer broke my still
Alligator ate my cat
My wife gave me the bill
What I gonna do with that?

Right now I'm sitting here in the county lock up drying out
because the sheriff noticed that I'd been drinking and driving.
I ain't got no bail money and gonna see the judge in the morning.
Then I can call my friend to come get me out of prison.
