It always has been an adventure.
From the days of starting a wood
fire and charcoal briquettes to
today's behemoth stainless gas grills.
The rain gods have looked down upon me
in great anticipation that I just
might want to grill something,anything.
I look out the window and see not
one cloud in the bluest of skies.
As soon as I light the grill the
clouds start to appear from the west.
Moments later I check the grill
and clean it before it's use and
see more and darker clouds forming.
As the wind starts to pick up,the sun
disappears from sight behind the clouds.
With the grill now at the proper cooking
temperature,I place the chicken or beef
or what ever on the grill.
Surprised at the sizzle as the food
is placed onto the grate.
Then I realize the sizzle is coming
not from the food but from the rain
droplets hitting and bouncing
off of the grill cover.
Last night I grilled burgers,
got them off and into the house
just in the nick of time.
The sky opened up just about the time
I was closing the grill cover and
turning the gas tank off.
Come to think of it,
as I am writing this
the clouds are coming over,
I have to turn a light on to see now.
Very strange this weather's attraction
and reaction to me and that grill.
